Guy Asks A Police Officer If His Order Is Logical And This Is What He Says

In an evidently confusing pedestrian area where police have barricaded specific areas, one citizen defied an apparently illogical rule. When he confronted the police officer enforcing the rule, the cop said:

“Rules are rules. They don’t have to be logical; that’s why they’re laws.”

No doubt this is how most of law makers and law enforcement see law: It doesn’t matter if it makes sense, as long as it’s on the books, you must follow it. Law + gun = docile population. That’s their logic. If you don’t like it, you will be fined. If you don’t pay, we’ll throw you in jail. If you resist, you will be killed. And this is the cold hard reality of the presumed governmental authority. Like it or not, death is the ultimate result of disobeying the powers that be. Without that chain of threat, they are impotent; with it, they are extremely dangerous. Shouldn’t we base that monopoly of force on logic, not some arbitrary whim of the law makers and enforcers?

The citizen in the video is released without punishment, but the threat was placed: we have the power and you don’t. It doesn’t matter if if makes sense. You will obey.

If You Think Disaster Is Good For the Economy, You Might Be a Keynesian

Paul Krugman is famous for saying that if space aliens were to attack the planet, it would be great for the economy. He says that any temporary deficit spending, no matter how productive, is good for the economy and would “bring us out,” of economic recession.

I hate treating Krugman like a sane person, but on the surface, it seems tenable. More spending, for an ostensibly good cause increases productivity and may seem like a good thing for the economy. If that were so, then disasters like Haiti’s earthquake or hurricane Katrina or even the Boston Marathon bombing would be good for the economy.

But this Nobel Prize winner is stuck in grade-school economics here. Krugman consistently falls for the broken window fallacy, which states that if a man comes along and breaks a baker’s window, it’s good for the economy because that employs a glazier to repair the window. Voila: more employment. But it’s a fallacy because, while we see what has been created (glazier employment), we don’t see what could have been created: an extra bread oven, donations to the poor, a new wardrobe for the baker’s staff. Instead of having all those things AND a window, because of the vandal (the disaster), the baker can only have a window.

Not realizing that there are costs in disaster is so ridiculous, it almost doesn’t deserve to be acknowledged, but people still listen to Keynesians, so, their idiocy must be repudiated constantly.

What If Boston Was Just Practice For the Rest of the Country?

If this doesn’t wake you up, nothing will.

On Friday, April 19, 2013, during a manhunt for a bombing suspect, police and federal agents spent the day storming people’s homes and performing illegal searches. While it was unclear initially if the home searches were voluntary, it is now crystal clear that they were absolutely NOT voluntary. Police were filmed ripping people from their homes at gunpoint, marching the residents out with their hands raised in submission, and then storming the homes to perform their illegal searches.

This could have been just a concerted effort to find a bad guy. On the other hand, with so many questions still unanswered and unasked by the mainstream media, it could have been a carefully designed plan to institute a military-police state in a major metropolitan area in order to intimidate and control the population. Boston could have been simply practice for the rest of the country. I wrote about this in “Gods of Ruin“: the government initiates a security threat in order to impose martial law on a city, then systematically disarms the population. If Americans put up with this sickening behavior, there is no hope for freedom in this world.

You think crazy bombers are scary? Just wait until you see these guys knocking down your front door:

Note that none of this unconstitutional manhunt was necessary or did any good. The police got wind of the bombing suspects from a coincidental 7-Eleven robbery, then accomplished nothing in their terrorizing manhunt. Only after the manhunt and “lockdown” was called off did a citizen find the suspect and alert police.

Economics of Crisis

What is America? Is it the arbitrary geographic boundary in which the 50 states reside? Or is it something more–a principle? The Founders thought that America was something different than the typical nation state in which a ruler or group of rulers dominated the serfs. America was the principle that a free people would lead the world to prosperity.

For a while, America was free. But increasingly, we have seen our freedoms being stripped away and government ineptness combined with the (wrongly) presumed authority to harm its citizens gaining ground.

economics of crisis2

The terror attacks in Boston could be just another everyday psychopath and his friend wanting to cause trouble. But it could be something much much worse. After all, what’s more terrifying, knowing someone might want to bomb a public square or having legions of paramilitary style security forces invade your city yelling “if you want to live, turn off your cell phones“?

Former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanual was once caught saying, “You never want to let a crisis go to waste.” Well, his former boss Barack Obama and his predecessor George W. Bush surely didn’t let any crisis go to waste. They’ve overseen the greatest expansion of federal power in the history of the world.

Could the Boston Marathon bombing be the catalyst for the expansion of the police state? This is guaranteed. You can be sure you’re going to be seeing more from the TSA’s blue-gloved dehumanizing searches after this incident. But one should ask a more troubling question: If government grows every time there’s a crisis aren’t they incentivized to create or allow such crises?

A healthy sense of skepticism should accompany everything involving the federal government, especially since there are serious questions about the current crisis that the mainstream media are blacking out.

Don’t be a sucker to the games of Big Brother. Stay vigilant and aware. The whole idea of America relies on it.

Praying For Boston

Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by the horrific scene at the Boston Marathon. Absolutely horrible.

This type of thing is unacceptable, whether it’s an Islamic fanatic or a US government official with an itchy drone trigger finger.
