Jab Promoter Al Roker Hospitalized with Blood Clots in Leg, Lungs
Page Six is reporting that Al Roker revealed he has been hospitalized for blood clots in his leg and lungs after sparking concern over his “Today” show absence.
“So many of you have been thoughtfully asking where I’ve been,” the meteorologist captioned Friday Instagram photos of flowers and an NBC News mug.
“Last week I was admitted to the hospital with a blood clot in my leg which sent some clots into my lungs,” he continued. “After some medical whack-a-mole, I am so fortunate to be getting terrific medical care and on the way to recovery.”
The 68-year-old concluded by thanking his fans for their “well-wishes and prayers,” adding, “Hope to see you soon. Have a great weekend, everyone.”
In January, 2021, Roker promoted the fact that he was one of the first Today show hosts to be vaccinated against COVID.
Prior to receiving his vaccination, Roker spoke with Lenox Hill’s medical director Dr. Daniel Baker, who confirmed that the vaccine is “absolutely” safe.
“We’ve seen hundreds of thousands of doses since and everybody’s doing rather quite well,” Baker told Roker. The doctor also emphasized the importance of continued mask-wearing even as more people receive the vaccine.
Once Roker officially sat down for the shot, he joked with nurse Jessica Callard, “Will I get a Hello Kitty Band-Aid?”
OpenVAERS.com shows that there have been 9,265 cases of thrombocytopenia reporting following COVID vaccination, one of the side effects being blood clots.
